What can I expect on my first visit?

After filling out our medical and dental history forms (Page 1, Page 2, Page 3, Page 4), you will be escorted to a room where we will take your blood pressure, photograph, and x-rays as indicated.

You will then be introduced to Dr. Johnstone who will review your medical and dental history and discuss with you your referring dentist’s concerns.   A thorough examination of your teeth, gums, and mouth for oral pathology and periodontal disease will then take place. Even though you may be referred for a specific area, we typically do a complete exam to rule out generalized forms of pathology.

We will then discuss your diagnosis and suggestions for treatment.  We will also communicate with your restorative dentist and share these findings.

Our treatment coordinator will discuss fees and answer questions about insurance and payment options.  It is our goal to inform before we perform.  Please ask about anything that you do not understand.  The more you know about your body, the better you can maintain it and prevent premature loss of teeth and prolong life.  Your spouse or friend are welcome to join you for this visit.
